It’s hard to believe that Metallica are at the point in their career where they still have songs that they haven’t played live yet, especially given how persistent their catalog is (at least through Reload). On Friday night (30) at Germany’s Rock Im Revier festival, the band revisited “The Unforgiven II” live for the first time since 1997, when they played it live at the Billboard Music Awards. The last time they performed an older song they’d never played live before was at the first Orion Fest, where they played Ride the Lightning‘s “Escape,” which  they did as part of playing the entire album. Guess we’ll have to wait to see if they ever play Death Magnetic‘s “The Unforgiven III” at Lollapalooza.
