lollapalooza-2015Metallica will co-headline this year’s Lollapalooza Festival with Sir Paul McCartney, taking place again in Chicago’s Grant Park. Metallica will headline on Saturday night, August 1st,  with one day tickets costing $110.

In a statement from the band:

“It’s been nearly 20 years since we’ve been lucky enough to take the stage at Lollapalooza, so we are over the top that we’ve been asked to play this year at the now annual extravaganza held at Grant Park in Chicago. We’ll be hitting the stage on Saturday, August 1st.”

Metallica last played Lollapalooza when it was an actual tour, back in 1996 after Load came out. And while we’re not sure that we’ll see a new Metallica album this year, at least they might play some new songs from the new record while touring in 2015. So maybe some new material at Lollapalooza?

Given recent murmurings that Metallica may be losing more money than they make, a headlining spot on Lollapalooza this year will certainly help bring in some cash. Here’s the full lineup, which doesn’t appear to include anything else remotely metal. In fact, we totally feel like they’re making a lot of these up:
