Philadelphia’s Hop Along is one of those bands that is popping up on a lot of year-end lists – none of them metal. That’s because the Philly band is more in the indie vein, having signed to Saddle Creek Records for their third album earlier this year. Why are we even writing about them? Well, they recently played a sold-out Bowery Ballroom in New York City where they faithfully covered Rage Against the Machine’s “Bombtrack.” It’s a pretty solid rendition, with the exception of the non-Morello guitar solo, and if you’ve often heard RATM and thought that Zach de la Rocha’s vocals might sound better if a twentysomething female rapped them, then you’ll really dig this. But if you’re expecting their original material to sound like this, you’ll probably be pretty disappointed.
