guns_n_roses_logo_hd-t2It can’t be said that the Guns N’ Roses reunion doesn’t have any surprises left. The band’s played a handful of shows with Slash and Duff McKagan back in the fold since their surprise April 1 show in Hollywood, with shows in Las Vegas and Mexico City, as well as the first week of Coachella. Last night’s performance at the festival, however, found them resurrecting a duo of songs that those three hadn’t played together since the first time Slash left the band. “Used to Love Her,” from 1988’s GN’R Lies, was last played with them in 1993 in Buenos Aires, and Appetite For Destruction‘s “Out ta Get Me” hadn’t been played since one year earlier. Rolling Stone reports that while they didn’t play anything by Prince, Rose spoke about owning Purple Rain on laser disc and dedicated the band’s set to the artist, who died on Thursday. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Axl actually sounds really good singing in these clips as well, perhaps because he’s not running around like the stage, for obvious reasons.
