gnr2016 is already the year of Guns N’ Roses, given that they announced that they’d be playing this year with Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan for the first time in years. And while they’ve only announced dates at Coachella, Las Vegas dates Mexico City so far, there’s likely more on the horizon, or at least an appetite for some. And according to a former publicist and former manager of the band, members are in the studio working on new music.

Publicist Arlett Vereecke spoke to Classic Rock Magazine saying that they’re “definitely” in the studio, stating “I know they’re doing some recording. They’re definitely doing something there in the studio. Axl hasn’t been there, but Slash is definitely in there and it’s not for anyone else.” We’re not sure what the “not for anyone else” means, unless it means “not for anyone else other than GN’R.” The band’s former manager, Alan Niven also says that McKagan and Izzy Stradlin were working on new material before Christmas. Stradlin isn’t necessarily going to appear on the upcoming tour – at least his name hasn’t been mentioned.

If GN’R were to come out with some music with at least three original members, it’d definitely be of interest to many rock fans, given the blueprint that Appetite For Destruction built for rock music that continues to this day. And after the overproduced, over-delayed mess that was Chinese Democracy, just about anything would be more welcome.
