When we heard that Disturbed was covering Simon and Garfunkel’s classic “The Sound of Silence,” we expected the worst – a bombastic nu-metalled-out version of the folk song. Instead, the band turned in a subdued version of the song, with David Draiman’s vocals front and center as he sings the hell out of the song. The band’s version of the song, driven by piano and strings, is one that you could play for a fan of the original without them getting upset by it. The video, which premiered today on Yahoo, is as understated as their cover of it. Starkly shot in black and white, it shows the band (well, mostly Draiman’s head) amidst pictures of the earth. The band will do their first proper tour in support of Immortalized starting January 14th. Check the tour dates after the video:
