If you were wondering why you haven’t heard from Disturbed super recently, it’s because they’ve been touring abroad. Last month, they played Russia, where the band’s appearance apparently warranted a press conference. Among the topics addressed was the status of their forthcoming acoustic EP. In short, it’s not ready yet, but there will be some original music recorded for it, David Draiman says.

“Well, we’re still working on it,” the singer stated in response to a question about the disc. “We haven’t really set a timeframe in stone. We’d like to kind of have as much time as we need to get it to the point that we’re as confident in it as we can possibly be, that we see the songs through to their fruition. And the answer to your question, yes, there will be new original material — original acoustic pieces — as well as acoustic versions of existing songs within the catalog.”

That should be interesting. New material plus acoustic songs, and almost definitely their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence?” Sounds like it might be more than just an EP. It seems like the band is off tour now, so they’ve likely got time to work on the EP/album. Check out the press conference below.
