Chris Cornell covers Prince/Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”

When you’re the singer of a band like Soundgarden, you can basically do whatever you want musically and it’ll be great. Chris Cornell proved that fact after he coveres the Prince-written “Nothing Compares 2 U” (which was made famous by Sinead O’Connor) during an acoustic performance at the Sirius XM Studios.

Cornell just started his solo tour promoting Higher Truth and he took the chance to play the 1990 classic for Sirius XM’s 90s-themed Lithium channel after an in-depth interview with the station and you can watch a video of the song below. Listening to the song with Cornell’s voice gives it a fresh approach and his voice is just phenomenal to do this sort of thing. His setlist includes more classic songs like U2’s “One,” John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You,” Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin'” and “I Threw It All Away,” and Franz Schubert’s “Ave Maria.”

As we mentioned before, it may be a little longer before we can hear some new Soundgarden but if you wanna catch Chris playing some acoustic songs, make sure to go to any of the following dates:
