While Derek Small of Spinal Tap fame recently unveiled a video for his take on the childhood toy madness with “Must Crush Barbie,” Avenged Sevenfold crafted a unique metaphor on the famous doll, which all timed perfectly well with the ongoing nostalgic saga since the movie Barbie dominated movie theaters throughout the summer. However, Avenged Sevenfold’s song “Mattel,” based on the company that owns the Barbie brand, has a potentially unique song meaning, using the plastic dolls as a possible metaphor for superficiality. Earlier this week, the group shared a powerful, funky, and well-crafted video for the song, directed by Zoe Katz. The track is taken from the band’s latest effort, Life Is But A Dream, released in June via Warner (order here).
