Lambgoat continue their dogged pursuit of truth and justice in all things Tim Lambesis. With the As I Lay Dying frontman awaiting trial on charges of hiring a hit man to kill his estranged wife, Meggan, he’s also looking down the barrel of a $2 million civil suit filed by Meggan. Lambgoat have done research showing that Lambesis filed the suit on August 2, 2013, about a year after she filed for divorce. Among the allegations in the suit are “personal injury, “assault, domestic violence” and “intentional infliction of emotional distress,” all stemming from the incident when Lambesis hired the hitman. The suit claims that “the solicitation of another individual to commit murder upon a spouse is abuse,” which we’re inclined to agree with.
Meggan is seeking $1 million for emotional distress and $1 million in punitive damages, as well as $25.000 for medical expenses and $75,000 for future medical expenses, plus attorney’s fees. That seems like a lot of money, yes, but according to Meggan’s paperwork, Lambesis made about $14,000/month in the time period from November 2012 through February 2013. That’d be fine if Lambesis could just pick up and keep making money with As I Lay Dying, but it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen. Court papers have been filed stating that Lambesis has been unemployed since May 2013, as all tours were cancelled and Metal Blade doesn’t want to release any more albums. Well, duh. Maybe he should have thought about that before (allegedly!) hiring a hitman to kill his wife.
The next date for Lambesis’ divorce proceedings are set for April 16, 2014. At the soonest, his trial will be start in March. So basically, what we’re trying to say is that he’s in for one hell of a 2014.
