After some weeks of speculations since Scott Weiland’s death, there’s a final confirmation of what everyone was thinking and that’s Weiland died from a drug overdose.
Weiland was found dead on his tour bus while on tour earlier this month and, despite the claims from his wife about him not doing drugs in years, the forensic results determined that he died from a “mixed drug toxicity: cocaine, ethanol and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). Other significant conditions are noted as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, history of asthma and multi-substance dependence. Manner of death is accident.”
Sadly, this comes as no surprise considering Weiland’s long history with drug use and abuse throughout his entire career. A funeral for the former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman was held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on December 10th, according to an Instagram post by Chris Kushner, the wife of Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner.
