San Bernardino coroner: No foul play suspected in death of Wayne Static

Posted by on November 10, 2014

It’s been a week of sad and untimely deaths in the metal world, and while Athon and Wayne Static are polar opposites, the hard rock and metal community continue to mourn their deaths. While Athon’s death was sudden and tragic, it was instantly known what led to his death. Static’s, on the other hand, is less cut and dried. The former Static-X frontman died in his sleep, and due to some  on social media jumping the gun, was viewed as a drug overdose. Several statements have come out stating that he was not on drugs, and they didn’t play a part in his passing. While toxicology tests haven’t come back yet, the San Bernardino coroner’s office has reported that no foul play is expected:

“We can confirm the death of Wayne Dick Static, a 48-year-old Landers resident on 11/1/14 at his home. While the manner of death is listed as pending, no foul play is suspected. No further details are available at this time.”

It will be at least another week until the toxicology tests come back. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
