Attila frontman Chris Fronzak sure knows how to stir the pot. With the recent release of About That Life – what Fronzak calls “the most controversial metal album that exists” – the Twittersphere has been blowing up due to Fronzak’s inflammatory tweets. If getting his rap-deathcore group attention (positive or negative…but mostly negative) was his goal, he certainly succeeded.
Now, attention comes in the form of the infamous and equally inflammatory Westboro Baptist Church, who announced through Twitter that they would be picketing Attila shows. “Westboro to picket narcissistic potty mouth @FRONZ1LLA & @ATTILAga in Bonner Springs, KS 7/23″ they posted. “Pervert @FRONZ1LLA & her band @ATTILAga are chomping at the bit for some gospel preaching for once in their emo lives.”
Fronzak responded in kind:
“DAMN RIGHT IM A MOTHERFUCKIN POTTY MOUTH @WBCSays! STOKED FOR YOU TO COME PROTEST THIS DICK! SEE YOU SOON. I GUESS IM A GIRL NOW ACCORDING TO WBC, FUCK YEAH TOUCH MY PUSSY”
It is unclear what prompted WBC to go on the warpath against Attila, but it maaaayyyyy have had something to do with a choice bit of lyrics from the song “Callout”, in which they, yup, you guessed it, call out the Westboro Baptist Church:
Hey westboro basptist.
Fuck you too, come and protest this dick.
Faggots.
Prior to this very mature and grown up flame war, Fronzak posted that “If our new album doesn’t blow the fuck up, then I’ve officially lost faith in music and I quit ha.”
Well, the album is certainly blowing up, and it sounds like the show in Bonner Springs, KS could get explosive as well.
Here is a stream of the album in question. The tough part is choosing whose side you are on:
