Wolfgang Van Halen has confirmed he will no longer participate in Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning, the final concert final concert taking place on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK.

Speaking with WRIF, Wolfgang explained:

“I, unfortunately, had to back out because the Creed tour starts the day after, and I [wouldn’t] be able to pull it off , unfortunately. I’m very excited to watch it, but I unfortunately had to back out.”

The highly anticipated Back to the Beginning show, which sold out in under 10 minutes, will mark the first time the original Black Sabbath lineup Osbourne, Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, will perform together in twenty years. Also appearing are Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon. A supergroup performance featuring Duff McKagan, Slash, Billy Corgan, Fred Durst, K.K. Downing, Jake E. Lee, and Tom Morello is also scheduled. The event will also be available via livestream at this location.

As for the Creed tour, Sevendust will now join the summer leg, stepping in for 3 Doors Down after frontman Brad Arnold’s diagnosis with stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

Sevendust stated:

“We’ll be joining Creed on their upcoming Summer of ’99 Tour to fill in for 3 Doors Down. Brad, we’re thinking of you and sending strength. Can’t wait to see you all out there.”

The tour consists of Creed with special guests Daughtry, Sevendust, Big Wreck and Mammoth WVH.
