Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, set for July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, featuring the original lineup – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, saw tickets selling out in record time on Friday (14th). General on-sale tickets reportedly sold out in under twenty minutes, roughly sixteen, to be exact. More than 125,000 fans queued for tickets, with many expressing frustration over Ticketmaster’s long wait times, dynamic pricing (ranging from nearly $250 to $4,000 and more depending on the time of ticket availability), and account issues.
While the show is expected to be a historic event, Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed his level of participation. The prince of darkness himself hasn’t performed since 2018, which led to his announcing in 2020 being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, he recently spoke on his SiriusXM show, Ozzy Speaks, expressing:
“I’m not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.”
With an already star-studded lineup featuring Metallica, Pantera, Lamb of God, Mastodon, and Anthrax, the show will likely be full of surprises honoring the legendary Black Sabbath. The lineup has since expanded to include Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and Rival Sons. A supergroup of iconic musicians from bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Rage Against the Machine, and more will also perform.
