Slipknot will finally release Look Outside Your Window, a long-rumored collection of previously unreleased material recorded during the sessions for 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. The experimental project — created by Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn “Clown” Crahan- explored a more psychedelic direction. At the same time, the band worked through a creative impasse at a separate studio.

First revealed by Crahan in 2018, the recordings were developed outside the traditional Slipknot framework, allowing the members to experiment freely without expectations. The effort is now confirmed for a vinyl release on Record Store Day (April 18).

In a statement shared online, Slipknot stated about the inception of the Look Outside Your Window project:

“Created during a chaotic time in our shared history, the songs were born late at night, in a house on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Peering out through a big picture window, we wondered about what, or who, might be lurking outside. That sense of the unknown seeped into the music itself. There were no rules; ideas could come from anywhere: subtle drum loops, bits of organ or abstract guitar noise, even samples of frogs or crickets. Guided by emotion and instinct, we let the sounds themselves point the way.”
