I Killed The Prom Queen were locked up in ‘3rd World conditions’

Australian metalcore band I Killed The Prom Queen were touring South East Asia with Massacre Conspiracy, Dead Eyes Glow, and As Our Throne when they were detained last Saturday for being in Malaysia without the proper documents lined up. Released just this past Monday, guitarist Kevin Cameron made an announcement via Facebook to clear up the misconception from “various media” that they were being held in pleasant conditions, when it was exactly the opposite.

Said Cameron of their experience behind bars:

“We were put in jail Sat-Monday due to our promoters negligence in securing us the appropriate permissions to perform in Malaysia after he received an immigration warning but failed to tell us after we explicitly asked multiple times, all the while being aware of our upcoming consequence. And by jail we mean yes, standard, 3rd world condition Malaysian prison, huddled on a wet tile floor of a 5×10 cell with 35 other inmates. It was reported we were posted up in some cushy airport hotel but this couldn’t be further from the truth.”

That’s no joke because, according to the band, they could have been held for a minimum of 14 days. Thanks to the Australian Embassy the band was released much earlier and they got to head back home.
