We all know who the Big 4 are, but what if one of them took out bands that would make the cut for the Big 8? Testament singer Chuck Billy revealed a lot of things when interviewed by 107.7 The Bone at Mayhem Festival this past Sunday (July 10) in Mountain View, CA. In addition to confirming the title of their new album to be The Dark Roots Of Earth, Billy let it slip that Testament would be touring with none other than Anthrax, Overkill, and Death Angel.
You can watch the entire interview up top, but when asked about what touring Testament would be doing in support of the new album, Billy replied by saying the following:
“We plan to tour. It’s gonna be October/November. I think it’s OK to say, it’s gonna be Anthrax, Death Angel and Overkill. So that’ll be in America. That’ll be probably a five- or six-week tour in America. It would be good to have a record out with that. But if we’ll have something out we’ll be promoting with that tour.”
If we may take a second to geek out….HOLY CRAP, THAT’S ONE HELL OF AN AWESOME LINEUP! Many consider Testament, Overkill and Death Angel to be a part of the “Other Big 4” (which also includes Exodus). So seeing these three bands PLUS one of the actual Big 4 bands on the same bill is thrash-tastic! We’ll keep you posted once more is confirmed.
Billy also discusses Testament’s current rotating-drummer situation in the interview. For those who don’t know, drummer Gene Hoglan has been brought in to record drums on the new album, while Lamb Of God’s Chris Adler will appear on bonus tracks, as drummer Paul Bostaph recovers from a serious injury. Testament has been playing with Sadus drummer Jon Allen at their recent shows. You can watch video of Testament performing with Jon Allen at Mayhem Fest after the jump.
