Yesterday, it was confirmed that the Death To All Tour would be returning for another year. Appearing on the North American April trek will be the Human lineup (guitarist Paul Masvidal, bassist Steve DiGiorgio, and drummer Sean Reinert) performing songs from Death’s first four albums. And now we know that the man who will be filling in for the late great Chuck Schuldiner on vocals and guitar will be (drum roll please…) Max Phelps of Cynic/Exist.
Technically, this means that one-third of Cynic’s touring lineup will be performing songs from Death. With that said, that isn’t exactly a bad thing and the tour still involves the Human-era lineup (minus Schuldiner, of course). Whether more singers and special guests will appear on this leg of the tour remains unclear (though the second version of the tour, focusing on the final three Death albums, will also be touring North America later this year in addition to the Neurotic Deathfest in Tilburg, Netherlands).
