livenationUntil recently, corporate concert behemoth Live Nation had a reputation as a faceless, capitalistic corporation. To many, they still do, but they’ve at least been making strides towards making concertgoers happy customers that’ll come back for repeat business. They’ve had several “no service fee” ticket days, and everyone knows that the added charges are what can really drive up the price of a ticket (convenience fee? what’s convenient about charging me to print my own ticket?). Then they had the “Club Passport” back in September, which allowed fans to get into unlimited club shows for the rest of the year for a reasonable $49.99.

Now they’re doing another “no service free” ticket day this Wednesday (10/28), but are upping the ante. Anyone that buys a ticket to a club show will be automatically entered to win an “Ultimate Access Pass” for that venue. This means that at every Live Nation club around the country, one person that buys a no-service-fee ticket online or at a club box office this Wednesday will be winning a pass good for all events in 2010 at that venue.

Also on the 28th, there will be 10 meet and greets at Live Nation venues across the country. Anvil, Between the Buried and Me, Dethklok and Mastodon, Five Finger Death Punch, Hollywood Undead, and Tesla are among the bands participating. Look for the full schedule after the jump.

We’re all for this. Between this and allowing concertgoers to buy cheaper tickets for upcoming shows at the venues, it really seems that they’re at least trying. With the recession hitting the concert industry pretty hard, they need to do everything they can to get people into clubs, and promotions like this almost make ticket buying fun (I said almost). And plus, if you buy a ticket, you also get a poster! It’s also good for Live Nation, because anyone that wins a ticket probably isn’t going to go to shows all by themselves, so they’ve potentially sold at least one ticket to every show those winners go to.
