4. Skid Row – November 2, 1991
It’s hard to imagine a time when Sebastian Bach wasn’t desperate to be on TV (seriously, he’s willing to do anything). But in 1991, Skid Row not only was the first metal band to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 during the SoundScan era, but did so with Slave To The Grind, a pretty damn heavy album. That’s why it was pretty cool to see Skid Row play Slave To The Grind’s single “Monkey Business” (as well as the self-titled album’s “Piece Of Me”). Bach also got the chance to show off his acting chops, with him and Rachel Bolan appearing in a commercial parody for a Guns N’ Roses’ kids album (Kiefer Sutherland played Slash).
