gene simmonsGene Simmons is honoring the country that sets him on a pedestal by singing its praises internationally. The KISS legend is set to sing “The Star Spangled Banner” ahead of an overseas NFL match-up 1 p.m. (EST) Sunday between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings at Wembley Stadium in London, according to NME. The game is part of an International Series for the NFL.

“I always love playing a role in these types of high-action, fast-paced games, not to mention returning to the UK and performing in front of some the best fans in the world!”  Simmons said in a statement regarding the performance.

Simmons and KISS bandmate Paul Stanley have crossed over into the land of the pigskin in other ways as of late, acquiring a  new arena football team in Los Angeles, the LA KISS. Not surprisingly, the duo is taking their football investments seriously, reportedly offering Tim Tebow a spot on the team.
