If you want to get technical, metal is about 47 years old, if you count Black Sabbath as the band that inspired it. That means that many of the people that came of age listening to it are not only still listening, but many have kids and even grandkids that appreciate heavy stuff. We saw that a few weeks ago when Forest Whitaker wound up backstage at a Bring me the Horizon show. It turns out he’s not the only one willing to use his celebrity to see a metal band, as actor and musician Donnie Wahlberg, best known for his role as one of the singers of New Kids on the Block, wound up at a Periphery show.
Metal Injection reached out to the band, and guitarist Mark Holcomb replied that Donnie was at the show at Chicago’s House of Blues with his son, Elijah. Elijah, 16, is a result of his first marriage – he’s currently married to Jenny McCarthy, who was not at the show. Holcomb tells Metal Injection that Donnie’s “people” contacted the band, and that Donnie said that his son plays Periphery in the car constantly, and that he was a big fan of Juggernaut.
#Thankful to @MarkPeriphery, @MattPeriphery, @spencersotelo & @PeripheryBand for the hospitality! @HOBChicago show was amazing!
