Legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, who toured throughout Europe and the United States over the summer and into the fall of 2022, has suddenly passed away due to bacterial meningitis. A statement from his family confirmed his death on his Facebook with the following:

“On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”

Beck was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame twice. Once as a member of The Yardbirds and again as a solo artist. His career kicked off when he replaced Eric Clapton as the Yardbird’s lead guitarist in 1965 and eventually became a solo artist. He’s worked with countless musicians over the years, including, most recently, Ozzy Osbourne’s latest effort, 2022’s Patient Number 9. Beck’s final record was 18, a collaboration with Actor and Hollywood Vampires member Johnny Depp, and the two were promoting the record together throughout the summer. According to Page Six, Beck was surrounded by Depp and other rock stars before his death.

While artists are still processing this horrific news, many tributes have been shared on social media. Here are just a few:
