We are saddened to hear about the passing of Nazareth co-founding vocalist Dan McCafferty. He was seventy-six years old. His death was confirmed yesterday (8th) by bassist Pete Agnew with the following statement:
“Dan died at 12:40 today. This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make. Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time.”
After almost fifty years, McCafferty was forced to retire from performing live due to health concerns. 2019’s Last Testament was McCafferty’s third and final solo record. Our thoughts go out to McCafferty’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Loved Dan…Such a great singer…Great guy…My sincere condolences to his family, his band, his friends & his fans…We went way back…🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 https://t.co/2fyLPSwNqc

Sad to hear about Nazareth’s Dan McCafferty passing away today. I feel like his voice has always been there since I first started listening to music. We played in Finland with him a few years back and even in poor health, he could SING (as well as put back a whisky or 2). RIP pic.twitter.com/atxR1aCPFw
