On March 14, former Opeth frontman David Isberg was assaulted while walking home. The attack, which supposedly resulted from a brawl not involving Isberg on a bus, has left the Swedish musician/DJ hospitalized in the Stockholm-area.

Isberg posted the following, along with the picture seen above, message on his Facebook profile on Saturday, March 24 (as found by Blabbermouth):

“For everyone still wondering, I was 12 days ago beaten real badly. [The] only thing I was trying to do was walk home from my work. [I am] now at [a] hospital. Enough said.”

Isberg is likely most remembered for forming Opeth in 1990. After leaving the group in 1992 over creative differences, Isberg continue to pursue music and has also gained fame as a DJ in the electronic scene (under the name DJ Dake).

Apparently one of the alleged attackers has already been arrested and charged with attempted manslaughter. We wish Isberg the best and hope he makes a speedy recovery.
