Jeff Kaplan, sound engineer for A Day to Remember, passed away yesterday when he was struck by a SUV.

From the Capital Gazette:

“Maryland State Police said 43-year-old Jeffrey A. Kaplan was driving a 2013 Subaru when he lost control and struck the median. Kaplan got out of his vehicle and was standing in the travel portion of the roadway when he was hit by a 1999 Ford sport utility vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Aaron B. Nedd of Hyattsville, police said.”

Kaplan has worked with many bands as both a sound engineer and a tour manager, including P.O.D., Trapt, Unwritten Law, and Blindside. A memorial fund has been established, with a goal of $75,000, for his seven year old daughter, Vivien. Over $24,000 has already been raised.
