One of the biggest complaints brought up about Guns N’ Roses’ classic reunion was the fact that not everyone from the early lineup was part of it. The lineup announced only involved singer Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, leaving out any participation from Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler. The latter was sort of involved with the Guns ‘N Roses first show at The Troubadour in Hollywood, CA but did not take the stage with his former bandmates but it seems like now is the time to do it.
During Guns N’ Roses’ show last night (7/6) in Cincinnati, OH, Adler took the stage with the rest of the band to perform two songs: “Out Ta Get Me” and “My Michelle.” This marked Adler’s fist appearance with GN’R since 1990.
According to sources reported by the LA weekly, Adler had recently gone through surgery around the time The Troubadour show took place, explaining the reason why he was involved in the announcement but didn’t perform. The surprise appearance was expected since the beginning but many weren’t certain about it happening, considering previous statements by Adler when he said he would be the last involved in the reunion as Slash couldn’t trust him after his fallout with drug abuse.
Take a look at the footage below as this may be a rare occurrence according to the LA Weekly writer who claimed that he was also “told [Adler was] not ready to tour with GN’R, not yet, and maybe not ever.”
