It’d be very premature to assume that Guns N’ Roses are going to reunite just because Slash said that he’s buried the hatchet with Axl Rose. However, it’s certainly conceivable that if there’s no bad blood between them, that they might play together again. After all, as of the end of last month, both DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot are no longer in the band. But while everyone might be getting ahead of themselves by imagining that there might be a reunion with the original lineup, that’s not stopping people from doing it anyway. One of the latest is James Young, owner of Melbourne, Australia establishment Cherry Bar. The day before Slash announced the reconciliation, he told Triple M Radio that he’d heard a rumor the original lineup might be headlining the Soundwave Festival.
“I heard the most amazing rumor this week, from a very well informed heavy hitter in the Australian music industry, giving me the name of the headline act for Soundwave next year. Now we know that a mystery band has come in and saved the festival, and now owns it, so they they are going to have a big say. So what mega band could it be? Well I have heard ‘fantasized’ on Wednesday night that it will be: Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagen, Slash and Axl Rose, the reformation of the original 1987 Appetite for Destruction Guns N’ Roses lineup, can you believe it? It’s incredible, I’ve had sleepless nights fantasizing about it.”
Sleepless nights? That’s a little hyperbolic, but it would be pretty Phonomenal to have Axl. Slash, Duff McCagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler together again. Maybe Dizzy Reed in there as well. We’ll see what happens.
