In just 25 years, on Ozzy Osbourne first two solo albums and a stint in Quiet Riot, Randy Rhoads cemented himself as one of the best and most imitated guitarists in metal. And while the guitarist’s life was tragically cut short in 1982, he’s getting his due via a tribute album (and no, we’re not talking about the live Ozzy album featuring Rhoads called Tribute. Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute, will be released on March 3rd on UDR and will feature an all star lineup of musicians such as Tom Morello, Serj Tankian, Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho, Testament’s Chuck Billy, and many more paying their respects through 11 songs. The album was produced by the Grammy-award winning guitarist and producer Bob Kulick at his own studio. In addition, those who buy the digipack version will receive a bonus DVD that includes interviews with some of the involved artists hosted by Bob Kulick himself, and a feature on the Musonia School of Music in North Hollywood, California, set up by Randy’s mother and run by his brother Kelle Rhoads.

Randy Rhoads began his venture into music at the age of 16 by forming a band that would eventually become the legendary Quiet Riot. In 1979, he was recruited by Ozzy Osbourne and helped shape two of the most famous albums in history, Blizzard of Oz and Diary Of A Madman, where he went on to receive critical acclaim for his virtuoso and songwriting abilities. While Rhoads passed away on March 19, 1982 after a plane accident, his contributions to music haven’t been forgotten, and this album should ensure that his legacy lives on.
