2012 already promises to be a hell of a year for new releases. Now we can add another album to our “high expectations” list. Yesterday, Converge confirmed that they’ve started to record and track their new record, and first since 2009’s Axe To Fall. Once again, the Massachusetts hardcore/metal group are working in guitarist Kurt Ballou’s Godcity studios in Salem, Massachusetts. While Punknews claims that the album will be released in late Spring/ early Summer and is tentatively titled All We Love We Leave Behind, Lambgoat expects it to come out in September via Epitaph (making the point that all of Converge’s albums from the past 13 years came out in September/October).

So we may have to wait a little longer to find out when exactly the album comes out, as well any other exact details, but we for one can’t wait to hear new music from Converge. It’s unclear if the song “Runaway,” which appeared on Converge’s split EP with Drop Dead this past Summer, will appear on the new record. But to hold us over till new music is released, you can watch Converge performing the song live in Austin, TX last June in the video after the jump.
