Legendary Lemmy Kilmister will be honored with an unforgettable symbolic act at the Wacken Festival in Wacken, Germany, as part of Lemmy Forever, a weekend celebrating his life and legacy. Motörhead’s Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee will lead the festivities. There will be many opportunities to raise a toast to the late Metal God with fellow friends and bands on the bill.

Manager Todd Singerman comments:

“Wacken was one of Lemmy’s dearest homes and we’re delighted he has a place here forever. He was a man of the people, and as such, he ‘lived’ in many places worldwide. It’s our aim to allow him to rest permanently in all his ‘homes’ globally, and allow his fans worldwide to have a place close to them where they can both pay respects and celebrate his enormous continuing legacy and influence.”

Earlier today (2nd), organizers of the German festival stopped admissions to the event after heavy rain turned the grounds into mud. While the event sold out the expected 85,000 festival goers, it seemed an estimated of 50,000 people showed up today (2nd).

The organizers issued the following statement:

“Dear ticket holders,

despite all efforts, we had to announce the final entry stop for the Wacken Open Air 2023 early this morning due to the current weather situation and the impact on the festival grounds. All ticket holders who cannot attend the festival due to it will be refunded the ticket price (including WOA 2023, Bauer Uwes Garden 2023, Residency Evil 2023, Wheels of Steel 2023, Wacken United 2023, Wacken united Catering 2023). We will provide you with information on all other bookable products as soon as they are available to us. Detailed information about the refund process – and also about when you fans can expect the refund – will be announced shortly. We know that many of you have made great efforts and had a long journey to visit Wacken in 2023. We wanted nothing more than to party with 85,000 metalheads on our holy ground. But under the continuously difficult conditions, we have reached the maximum number of visitors we can accommodate this year. We hope from the bottom of our hearts that we will be able to welcome you in Wacken next year.”

It does appear, those who were able to attend ended up enjoying a muddy day full of metal:
