Yesterday (21st), marked the official fifth anniversary of Slipknot’s fifth studio album .5 The Gray Chapter. The record was the band’s first album since the passing of bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010. Additionally, it was the first since the firing of drummer Joey Jordison in 2013. Therefore, it was an overall darker chapter for the group as we heard in songs “The Devil in I,” “Custer,” and “The Negative One.”
Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan shared an image via the band’s Instagram to reveal an alternative piece of album artwork the group was considering at the time.
Clown included the following message:
“Today marks the 5th Anniversary of ‘.5: The Gray Chapter.’ This cover was a strong contender for the final album artwork, and represents where my head was at during the making of this album. -clown”
