Benji Webbe, singer of UK “ragga metal” act Skindred, was injured in a knife attack after being slashed on his face and throat in his hometown of Newport UK. His partner, Julie Christian, was also assaulted by a group of women. The two were returning home from a party when they were assaulted. There’s not much more information about what happened, although it looks like he’ll have a scar on his neck for life. Neither appears to have been seriously injured. Here’s what the singer says about the attack via his Facebook page:

Thank you all so much for all your concern and well wishes, makes all the difference and means the world to us, as you can imagine This is been quite an ordeal! Julie fortunately was not physically hurt but the whole thing has taken a toll on us both for me to be slashed across the face and the throat. For Julie to be dragged around and spat at by a group of women who glassed me, Just know that we will rise above this and remain positive and in love. Newport is my home town and I still love it and the community we have. Big up!

What he hasn’t said was anything about the attack. Was it random? Racially motivated? Was there an earlier altercation at the party that led to the assault? None of that’s been disclosed, and Webbe doesn’t really go into detail. At least no one was seriously injured, but it’s unfortunate that something like that would happen.
