Maryland Deathfest is reaching its fifteenth year with MDF XV at the end of this month. This year they scaled it back a bit, taking away the outside area known as the Edison Lot. However, this doesn’t stop fans from attending. Basically, once you attend, you plan to return each and every year. With that said, there have been movies previously made. However, there’s a brand new one entitled Welcome to Deathfest and it’s more of a behind-the-scenes look. According to the Creator/ Director/ Producer/ Editor/ Sound Engineer Tom Grahsler and Creator/Director/Producer Alicia Lozano, it’s completed. The filmmakers kicked off a funding campaign to help afford to clear music rights. They’re asking for a whopping $15,000 and if you compare it to, Wintersun asking help for a new building, this is loose change.
They shared the following details:
“Welcome to Deathfest is a labor of love profiling Maryland Deathfest. We need to clear music rights to ensure that bands get their fair share. In the DIY spirit of the fest and film, we are raising funds to bring this movie to market. 100 % of proceeds go to bands and fees. Please help us get there.”
There are 28 days left for this campaign and they already made nearly $3,000. Depending on how much you donate, you have the chance to receive an MDF pre-party package, a special 15th-anniversary T-shirt, a four-day pass, social media shoutout, and more.
