Bloodclot, the hardcore supergroup led by former Cro-Mags frontman John Joseph, is back with a new line-up and a new single

It was reported this week that the band dropped a lyric video for the single “Save The Robots.” Their first track in nearly four years, it is the first taste of a new album that is currently on track for release later this year. The album is the follow-up to Up In Arms, which was released in 2017.

“Save The Robots” is also the fans’ first taste of the Bloodclot’s new line-up. The band currently features Joseph, guitarist Tom Capone (Quicksand, Bold), Bassist Manny Carrero (Still Suit, Glassjaw, Burn) and drummer Darren Morgenthaler (Madball, Maximum Penalty).

Following the death of guitarist Todd Youth shortly after the release of Up In Arms and its subsequent tour, Bloodclot was put on hiatus. Said Joseph in a statement (as reported by Blabbermouth) about Youth’s passing, “Bloodclot was hit hard. It took us by complete surprise. I’ve known Todd since the early ’80s, so it wasn’t just losing a band member; he was a solid friend of mine — like a little brother, actually.”

When the band was finally ready to come back with Capone on guitar (at the suggestion of drummer Joey Castillo), the pandemic hit, forcing them to disband once again. In trying to regroup, Joseph decided that he needed to work with New York City musicians, meaning that Castillo (Queens Of The Stone Age, Danzig) and bassist Nick Oliveri (Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss), who both reside on the other side of the country, were out. Carrero and Morgenthaler were brought on in their stead and the band began recording their upcoming album. Said Joseph, “The one prerequisite I had was that everyone in the band needed to make Bloodclot their number one priority in terms of any other projects. All agreed and we hit the studio. Everything flowed.”

While fans will have to wait for more news on the new album, they won’t have to wait long for John Joseph’s latest project: a new cookbook. Titled ‘Hardcore Kitchen,’ Joseph said of the book, “The cookbook has over 100 gourmet recipes I’ve created in the last 40 years of being plant-based. It’s my go-to source of fuel for Ironman training and competition. They will fuel your kick-ass life!” ‘Hardcore Kitchen’ is slated for release in May.
