If you’re a fan of Pantera (and let’s face it, who isn’t?), then you know that the early ’90s were among the best times of Phil Anselmo’s career. Anselmo’s first few years with Pantera showed just how insanely capable he was of singing basically anything put in front of him and making it sound phenomenal (“Shattered”, anyone?). One of the most defining characteristics on all of Pantera’s early ’90s hits was Anselmo’s vocals, and a great example of that is the song that practically every metal band alive has covered at one time or another, “Walk”.

Revolver has located a video containing the vocals from the recording session for “Walk”. The video contains Anselmo’s vocals and all of the backing vocals together, which means that Dimebag Darrell and Rex Brown were in the room with Phil as this was being tracked. It’s a great listen, and it truly highlights Anselmo’s range of vocal talents. If you’re a Pantera fan, then this is basically required listening. And if you’ve never heard the original song before, for some unfathomable reason, you can watch it below for reference.
