Earlier today, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, who’s in hype mode for his book, You’re Making Me Hate You, took part in a Reddit AMA (which for those not in the know means “ask me anything:). He held forth on a variety of topics, even answering dumb questions like “how often to do you push your fingers into your eyes?” Taylor’s book is out today and can be ordered via his web site.
He’s always angry
It turns out you can judge a book by it’s cover. User Snowmittromney asked a pretty logical question, essentially asking if the intensity and anger he has in Slipknot is something he can turn off, since he’s always relaxed in interviews. Taylor’s answer:
The intensity and anger is always there, so it’s really easy to tap into. I’m like the Hulk in The Avengers: I’m ALWAYS Angry.
He wants to collaborate with Clutch and Rival Sons
While Slipknot has a controlled intensity and chaos, and Stone Sour is a riffy active rock hit machine, it seems that Taylor likes his jammy rock and roll. When asked by user lovesoakedbullets about who he might want to collaborate with, he responded:
There are a lot of people I’d love to work with- Eminem included!- at the moment no one comes to mind, but I’d love to do a tune with Clutch. One of my favorite bands. And Rival Sons- love them!
In fact, he has pretty diverse taste in music
Throughout the course of the AMA, he gives shout outs to Blind Guardian, Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell (who he says he would record with “at the drop of a hat”), Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton, Ronnie James Dio and John Bonham. Oh yeah, and Bowling for Soup.
He appears in Clown’s film, Officer Downe
We knew Shawn “Clown” Crahan was directing a film. Now we know that his singer is going to be in it. He confirmed as much during the EME.
Stone Sour is working on new material
“As we speak,” Taylor says. And while they’ve given hints as to what they’ll be covering on the follow-up to Meanwhile in Burbank…, he says “we can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions to the next batch of covers!”
Also, Taylor has a message for Kanye West
While the AMA proved Taylor has a pretty high appreciation of hip-hop, that doesn’t extend to Kanye West. In a clip shot at Music Choice, he delivered a message to Mr. Kardashian. Check that out above.
