‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa reveals he builds his characters from metal songs

Whether you know Jason Momoa from his performance in Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo, or his earlier roles from TV series including North Shore and Stargate: Atlantis; you may have questioned where he gets his inspiration. Next Friday (21st), Momoa’s roles continue to grow as he will make it to the big screen for his role as Arthur Curry in the film Aquaman. Metal Hammer recently asked the actor where he gets his inspiration as he revealed his portrayal of Aquaman was inspired by the Tool song “Ticks And Leeches” and Metallica’s debut album Kill ‘Em All.

He commented:

“Aquaman’s pretty metal. I know no-one thinks that, but Aquaman’s metal. I kind of build my characters off of metal songs. Conan (The Barbarian) was really heavy Pantera, I’d say Aquaman was probably mostly built out of Tool and (Metallica album) Kill ‘Em All. Ticks And Leeches, if I want to get specific. There’s a lot of Sabbath in there too.”
