Ozzy Osbourne unveils first song in nine years, new album arriving in early 2020

Posted by on November 8, 2019

Yes! Ozzy Osbourne has premiered “Under The Graveyard,” his first song in nine years! The track is more of a ballad as it progresses towards a heavier and experimental style. Lyrics wise, you can hear the struggle Ozzy has been going through this year trying to recover and having to postpone his 2019 tour, which could make him think “my misery owns me.” The song is taken from the Prince of Darkness’ new album Ordinary Man, which is scheduled to arrive in early 2020, or as his wife, Sharon stated, January via Epic Records.

It has been confirmed that Zakk Wylde had no part on this record as it features producer Andrew Watt on guitars, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) on bass, and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums.

Ozzy mentioned how his daughter Kelly asked him if he wanted to work on a Post Malone song as he had no clue “who the fuck” he was. This collaboration led him to work with producer Watt for a full-length follow-up to 2010’s Scream.

Ozzy commented:

“This album was a gift from my higher power–it is proof to me that you should never give up. It all started when [his daughter] Kelly comes in and says ‘do you want to work on a Post Malone song?’” OZZY explains. “My first thing was ‘who the fuck is Post Malone?!’ I went to Andrew’s [Watt] house and he said we will work really quick. After we finished that song, he said ‘would you be interested in starting an album.’ I said ‘that would be fucking great, but now I am thinking I don’t want to be working in a basement studio for six months! And in just a short time, we had the album done. Duff [McKagan] and Chad [Smith] came in and we would go in and jam during the day and I would go work out the songs in the evenings. I previously had said to Sharon I should be doing an album, but in the back of my mind I was going ‘I haven’t got the fucking strength…’ but Andrew pulled it out of me. I really hope people listen to it and enjoy it, because I put my heart and soul into this album.”

More details on the album will arrive soon.

In the meantime, listen to Ozzy’s first song in nine years with “Under the Graveyard” below:

Lyrics:

Today I woke up and I hate myself

Death doesn’t answer when I cry for help

No high could save me from the depths of hell

I’ll drown my mind until I’m someone else

Don’t take care of me

Be scared of me

My misery owns me

I don’t wanna be my enemy

My misery owns me now

Under the graveyard

We’re all rotting bones

Everything you are

Can’t take it when you go

I ain’t livin this lie no more

Ain’t livin this lie no more

It’s cold in the graveyard

We all die alone

Cover my eyes so I can see it clear

One sip away from everything I fear

Ashes to ashes watch me disappear

Closer to home because the end is near

Don’t take care of me

Be scared of me

My misery owns me

I don’t wanna be my enemy

My misery owns me now

Under the graveyard

We’re all rotting bones

Everything you are

Can’t take it when you go

I ain’t livin this lie no more

Ain’t livin this lie no more

It’s cold in the graveyard

We all die alone

I’m waiting for you

Under the graveyard

We’re all rotting bones

Everything you are

Can’t take it when you go

I ain’t livin this lie no more

Ain’t livin this lie no more

It’s cold in the graveyard

We all die alone
