Dark synthwave project Gost has announced his new album, Rites of Love and Reverence, will be released on August 13th via Century Media Records.

Gost comments:

“I have recently been fixated on the subject of witchcraft and its effect on women throughout history. I myself practice rituals to help clear my mind and focus on my day to day endeavors. This curiosity into witchcraft’s history and my own traditions combined to inspire the new album.”

He adds on the cover artwork, created by Dutch photographer Nona Limmen’s photograph:

“I have been a fan of Nona Limmen’s work for some time now. The inspiration for the new album is much about witchcraft from the feminine perspective. For women, throughout history, witchcraft has been negative, empowering, poisonous, and beautiful. The moment I saw this photographer by Nona, I could not imagine using anything else to convey the album’s content as beautifully and powerfully as this image does.”

Details and pre-orders will be revealed shortly.

05) Of Mice & Men to release new EP next month

Of Mice & Men have been working on releasing a series of EPs that will eventually comprise as their next album. The band has already released Timeless in February, and now, the group has unveiled their next EP, Bloom, scheduled to arrive on May 28th via Sharptone Records. To celebrate the upcoming EP, the band has shared a video for the title track.

Singer/bassist Aaron Pauley comments:

“‘Bloom’ is a song about grieving the death of a family member. t’s about understanding, through that loss, that grief is not only love in its most visceral and wildest form, but that it’s also the ultimate price we pay to experience such love. To know profound grief is to have known profound love. Nothing and no one lasts forever. Love isn’t a bouquet of plastic flowers; it’s watching the petals fall.”
