There are a lot of albums coming out on October 2nd by a diverse crop of heavy bands. You’ve got Trivium’s Silence in the Snow, Clutch’s Psychic Warfare, and of course Kylesa’s Exhausting Fire. The Savannah band has been fine-tuning their sound for a while now, which is a nice combination  between sludge and psychedelia, led by a pair of drummers and the dual vocals (and guitars) of Philip Cope and Laura Pleasents. And while our favorite album up until now has been a toss-up between 2009s Static Tensions and the following year’s Spiral Shadow, they might have just made their best one with Exhausting Fire, which is streaming now on Noisey.

Crushing grooves like “Inward Debate” find the band sludgy as all hell, and if you’ve listened to previously-released tracks “Shaping the Summer Sky” and “Lost and Confused,” you know their melody and riff game is on point. In short, their seventh album is perhaps the best if their 14-year career, and you should listen to it now. They’ll also be undertaking a tour starting next month, and when we saw them with Cult of Luna earlier this month, they were at the top of their game. Here’s where you’ll be able to catch them:
