despised iconEarlier this year, we talked about Despised Icon getting back together full-time and announcing a handful of tour dates in Europe to get back on track to play live shows after their long hiatus announced in 2010. At the time, we were hoping to hear about any more news, particularly about new music coming. As expected, the band just announced a new album with their new label Nuclear Blast.

The band just announced their new signing with the iconic metal label, and what record deal can be done without any plans for a new album? The band just revealed their plans to release a new album Beast:

“It’s been seven years since our last record and our batteries are fully recharged, The O.G. lineup is back and the new shit hits hard. You’ll hear sounds of our older slammin’ death metal days blended with the speed and technicality of our latest records. Cheers to everyone that has stood by us after all these years. Can’t wait to unleash the ‘Beast’.”

Nuclear Blast head of retail Roy Culver, who had worked with Despised Icon in the past, also commented on the Canadian signing:

“I signed DESPISED ICON to Century Media back in 2004 after hearing their debut record, ‘Consumed By Your Poison’. The band perfected the mix of ferocious, technical death metal with a modern take on hardcore and their first record for the label, ‘The Healing Process’, broadened the minds of a whole new generation of metal heads. I love these guys and couldn’t be happier to be working with them again here at Nuclear Blast. The ICON is back!”

Check out the teaser trailer for Beast which we expect to get during this summer and stay tuned for more details about it in the near future.
