August Burns Red add some twang to their Identity

Surf rock? Country twang? Whatever you call it, August Burn Red drops an interesting breakdown at the 1:45 mark of their latest single, “Identity,” from their forthcoming studio album, Found In Far Away Places, due out on June 30th.

In an interview with The Aquarian, Guitarist JB Brubaker explains why the band incorporates those un-metalcore elements to their music,

“The goal is to continue to set ourselves apart from the pack of mediocre and boring metalcore bands. I know that sounds sort of mean or pompous, but anyone who claims this genre to be creative and moving forward obviously hasn’t spent much time within it. We aren’t trying to reinvent the metalcore genre, but we certainly aren’t interested in sounding like the latest wave of bands.”

The new studio album will be their seventh, and first on new label home Fearless Records. Pre-orders have started on iTunes and come with an immediate download of already released, “The Wake,” and this song, “Identity.” The band will have a main stage slot on this year’s Warped Tour, which kicks off June 17th in Anchorage, AK.
