Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Witherfall’s Jake Dreyer and Joseph Michael as they’ve been spending this time in the studio working on “the craziest Witherfall album to date.”
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Jake Dreyer: Tons of practicing, so nothing has really changed. Oh, and how could I forget… Witherfall also managed to Quarantine inside of a studio in Woodland Hills to record drum tracks for our next record. More on that later. I’ve eased on the Starbucks runs. Although, I’m still consuming copious amounts of red wine.
Joseph Michael: Yeah, we have the drums done for what will be the craziest Witherfall album to date. Also, a surprise cover song that will end up being a bonus track somewhere. Speaking of red wine…Witherfall have partnered with Southern California Winery “Charlie & Echo” to release the “Tempest Red Blend!” There are only about 100 bottles left of the 2019 Vintage so they may be gone by the time this is published. When this sells out, though, we will be taking pre-orders for the 2020 Vintage blend. Free shipping is available on orders of $150.
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
Joseph: Considering the massive undertaking the next Witherfall album is turning out to be, mostly Witherfall. Though I have been working on the new Sanctuary album, as well.
Jake: Just new Witherfall demos. It consumes me.
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
Joseph: Jake and I don’t eat much bread. (Unless in France) I cook a lot. I just made some Utica greens, minus the breadcrumbs.
Jake: I can’t cook but I drink lots of red wine and pick-up sushi.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
Jake: “The Stand” – Stephen King (the actual novel, not the TV movie.) American Psycho (Film and Book) and games? Like board games? Video games? I am not smart enough for those.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Jake: Watch old AC/DC and KISS concerts from the late 70’s.
Joseph: Since you’re stuck at home you should be drinking. I recommend our “Tempest Red Blend” Order here.
