Next Tuesday (May 13), the self-titled debut from Killer be Killed will be in stores, but it’s streaming now courtesy of Metal Sucks. As you already know, the band consists of Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato, Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy’s Max Cavalera (who also used to be in some band called Sepultura) and drummer Dave Elitch, who logged time in The Mars Volta.

While the project has been in the works for some time now, it seems like the time spent was well worth it. On first listen, it’s pretty easy to tell who wrote what parts, and that’s not a bad thing. Having three distinctive vocalists helps set the band apart, and while  the  band is a supergroup that will probably not be able to logistically tour due to the schedules of the bands, it all works incredibly well on album. There’s tons of melody, plenty of groove, and also a lot of heaviness on the album as well. Supergroups usually don’t work out as well as the sum of their parts, but this could prove to be an exception. If you like what you hear, like we do, you can preorder it here.
