Earlier this week, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato confirmed that he and Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy frontman Max Cavalera will be collaborating on a new project. In a new audio posting on his TheLiveLine profile, though, the ex-Sepultura frontman gave further insight into what fans can expect from this project. After discussing Soulfly and the Cavalera Conspiracy, Cavalera gave the following update:
“I’m also working with Greg from The Dillinger Escape Plan; we’re gonna do a Nailbomb-type project. We are selecting the musicians right now and getting the songwriting [together]. Greg’s gonna come here [to Max’s home base in] Phoenix and spend some time with me. We’re gonna write some tunes. It’s gonna be kind of like Nailbomb, so it’s gonna be a one-off kind of project, super-heavy.
Me and Greg decided to do it. We had a lot of fun making the ‘Rise Of The Fallen’ song [on] the Soulfly Omen CD where me and Greg sang together. We think our voices are really cool together, so we decided to make a whole, full record. And that’s gonna come out sometime next year also.”
Puciato had revealed in the past that he hoped to work on a project with the Soulfly frontman that resembled Nailbomb, Cavalera’s side project with Fudge Tunnel’s Alex Newport. That one-off project also featured guest appearances from Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard), Dave Edwardson (Neurosis) and many more. So now Cavalera has confirmed that his new project with Puciato will take similar shape as Nailbomb, meaning that some awesome guest musicians will most likely be revealed soon. Maybe Max’s brother and Cavalera Conspiracy bandmate Igor will hop in on drums? One thing’s for sure, these guys will most likely not get an invite. We’ll keep you posted when more is confirmed or announced.
