Last month, in addition to finding a new label home, Adrenaline Mob also parted ways with guitarist Rich Ward and bassist Paul DiLeo. Today, though, it’s been announced that a rather well-known name is joining Mike Portnoy, Russell Allen and Mike Orlando’s group.
It was officially announced today that Disturbed’s John Moyer has taken over bass duties in Adrenaline Mob. Moyer had the following to say about his new gig:
“Mike Portnoy called me about auditioning for his new band Adrenaline Mob. He had heard through the grapevine that I was looking to stay busy while Disturbed is on hiatus. After jamming with Russ, MO, and Portnoy, the chemistry as musicians was undeniable. I am super stoked about joining ‘The Family’ and I can’t wait to hit the road with these guys and see what kind of musical mayhem we can create!”
Moyer’s addition to the band actually makes a lot of sense. Not only (as he mentioned) does he have a lot of spare time on his hands while Disturbed is on an “indefinite hiatus,” but it’s been well noted how Adrenaline Mob’s sound resembles Moyer’s full time band more than it does Dream Theater or Symphony X. Plus, Moyer will certainly give the band even more notoriety among the hard rock crowd. As for who will replace Rich Ward on guitar, though, is still unclear.
Adrenaline Mob will be making their live debut with Moyer on bass during a release party for their debut album Omertá on March 12 at the Hiro Ballroom in New York City (the same place they made their live debut back last Summer). In case you didn’t already know, Omertá will be released via Elm City Music (in conjunction with EMI Label Services) on March 13.
