Deafheaven made a lot of black metal purists angry and made more fans of shoegaze think that they might actually like black metal with the release of 2013’s Sunbather. From its pink album cover to selling the font and a blanket of the album cover, they’re definitely challenging a lot of conventions within the format of not just black metal, but heavy music in general. They announced last year that they’d be headed into the studio for their third album. On Saturday, the confirmed it by posting a shot on their Facebook page. Using the same “LP3” message, the  picture shows guitarist Kerry McCoy in the studio. There’s no word on when the album will be out, but considering they’ve given themselves a 2015 deadline, it’s a safe bet to expect it this year.
