British crust punk/grindcore legends Extreme Noise Terror have confirmed that singer Phil Vane has passed away. The cause of death is currently unknown, but the band posted the following message on their website confirming Vane’s death:

“The rumors are true. We’re sorry to announce that Phil passed away recently. The band will make a full statement soon but for now we need to take the time to come to terms with this terrible loss.”

Vane shared vocal duties with singer Dean Jones in ENT, and had been in and out of the group’s lineup since its formation in 1985. In between his time with ENT, Vane also briefly fronted fellow grindcore legends Napalm Death in 1996. His most recent return to ENT occurred in 2006 and had since remained a member in the group. Vane was 46 years old. We will keep you updated when more is revealed.
